On Monday, July 14th the Elderly Wish Foundation attended an event to celebrate
a 60th Birthday Bash of the “Older American Act.”
This Act was established in 1965. The purpose of this act is to make sure that all Americans have available resources to help seniors, caregivers, and their families. This event was hosted by programs in Contra Costa County that are essential to all seniors. As older Americans grow in numbers, these resources help them sort through obstacles and give them the opportunities and availability to make their lives easier. This is the reason for the OAA. Our representatives are still fighting for senior rights today. It also includes seniors with disabilities. As we all get older the chance of us developing a disability is extremely high. Through legislation our governor, senators and local government continue to fight to sustain a positive outlook for all seniors throughout California and America. These programs are available in our area. The Senior Coalition is one of these programs that help seniors every day along with several others. Each working together to make seniors and their families safer, and well informed to combat the everyday obstacles that each older American may face now and in the future.
